3 1/2 stars bumped up, then down because I have no want to read on months later.
So this was fun and cute. I pretty much liked all the characters in the book. I really thought Janie was one of the best drawn and original characters that I've read for a while. She was quirky and had a lot of non sequiturs that go into others. She is full of trivia and information and is constantly thinking out loud. A very fun character. The other characters were pretty good but none had the flourish that Janie did.

Still the story in general really wasn't original. It was the rich guy coming in and saving the day with a job. They did make a cute couple, which is a redeeming factor but there was a frustrating sister scene that seemed to be thrown in just to create excitement. Still it …

I liked the super-smart heroine in this book, and her relationship with her best friend Elizabeth. The hero seemed the typical alphahole type -- rich, incommunicative, mysterious, hella-cut -- and the company was full of mysteries. The heroine is reluctant to enter a relationship because of their professional relationship and power imbalance and the hero seems completely lack in the empathy to understand her concerns, assuring her it will all be fine. I'm sure it will be all fine for him, but I'm rooting for the heroine here in that this could go very badly for her. Many of the mysteries went unexplained with no impact on the story or payoff of any kind. Will these be relevant in a future book in the series? Not sure. The writing was fun and I enjoyed reading this book, but I'll def continue in the series to see where the author takes …

This is definitely not my usual genre, but I really loved this book. Janie was awkward, and weird, and smart, and funny. Quinn was shockingly a good balance for her. At first I thought she was written way too over the top with the quirkiness--I'm ridiculous and I'm nowhere near as bad as her--and she was WAY too oblivious, but that's ok. By the end, I got what I wanted, the HEA.

I switched back and forth between the audio and eBook, and the narration was solid. 4 surprising stars from me, and I will read the others.
