From the guitarist of the pioneering band Sleater-Kinney. With Sleater-Kinney, Brownstein and her bandmates rose to prominence in the burgeoning underground feminist punk-rock movement that would define music and pop culture in the 1990s.

I listened to this as an audiobook because I wanted to hear Ms. Brownstein tell her story in her own voice (and was glad I did). My 4-star rating is obviously influenced by the fact that I'm a big fan of Sleater-Kinney and Ms. Brownstein's other endeavors, so I'm not sure how interesting this would be for non-fans, but for me it was compelling and enlightening. I was surprised to learn that the reality of certain key elements of the S-K story were different from what was reported in the popular press at the time. Ms. Brownstein already boasts an impressive list of titles: Rock star, feminist icon, animal lover, actor, sketch comedian, and music critic... and now she can add "talented writer" to the list. This book made me excited to see what she does next.
