Portrait of a Thief

Portrait of a Thief is an entertaining look at recovering stolen cultural treasures. The characters are strongly defined, and though capers are a collective focus it is the characters' relationships that end up defining the book. This left me wanting both a prequel focused on China and a sequel based on further character development. Recommended.

Like the title say, it is much more a portrait of the characters, than a plot about heist. What I really liked was the exploration of the themes, (even if they were redundant at times as the characters do have similar experiences), and the characters themselves.
It's not a romance book, or a mystery, is it classified as a contemporary ? Lol anyway, really recommend it for those reasons !
