When I heard about this book, I knew I was in for stories that would rip out my heart and stomp it. This is the same guy who created Bojack Horseman, after all.
There's definitely plenty of gut punches in there, but the stories also have a great sense of humor. I was struck by the mundane slice of life moments even in the fantastical stories of superheroes powered by intoxication.
The stories rarely provide any sense of closure or a rigid story arc. Instead, they are snapshots of living, breathing worlds and the lives of people who inhabit it.
If you're a fan of Bojack Horseman, you will definitely find something to like, some story that speaks to you.
