An isolated location, a deadly scientific experiment, people with hidden motivations and a creature nature deemed to dangerous to exist and hence wiped out thousands of years ago. A thrilling adventure ride with scientific insights and immersive writing, Ancestor is a book that you will not be able to put down if you are fan of horror, adventure and science fiction genres.
Terrible
A fast-paced horror thriller. No surprises to be had here - this is straight-up predictable creature horror, and not as horrific as it could've been.
Good honest suspenseful fun.
An excellent thriller about attempted genetic modification to create better hosts to grow human transplantable organs. It only loses points for hitting one of my pet peeves - the summary on the dust jacket gives away the first 75% of the plot.
There are details that are filled in, but when you know "XXXX goes wrong" from the start, and the characters are sitting around discussing "so, how's XXXX going? What, there's a problem?", it completely obliterates all tension in the scene.
