I read this book as it is my girlfriends favorite series.
It is not my favorite book I have read.

I like the writing style, especially the unravelling of the tragic backstory. Usually that is done poorly with flashbacks, but here it is written into conversation in a way actual people would use to refer to their past. Eve Dallas has a past and it has shaped her, but it's not at the forefront of her thoughts at all times. Nicely done.
I also like the romance, even though it seems unwanted by both at times and I can't yet place Roarke's sudden bursts of anger.
