For its shortness, I liked the plot and characters, but as a prequel or 0.5, I feel like it's not much of an introduction and we are just thrown in the story without much explications.. I nonetheless, can't wait to start the series officially
Ich habe The Bone Season vor zirka zwei Jahren gelesen, wenn ich mich recht erinnere, und war sofort hin und weg. Seitdem denke ich oft an die Geschichte zurück, allerdings muss ich auch zugeben, dass ich mich an fast nichts mehr daraus erinnere. Dieses kurze Prequel war also perfekt, um wieder in diese Welt einzutauchen und mein Gedächtnis etwas aufzufrischen. Auf meinen hoffentlich baldigen Reread des ersten Bandes freue ich mich darum umso mehr und kann es kaum abwarten, die Reihe weiter zu verfolgen.
The Pale Dreamer novella is a prequel to The Bone Season, following Paige in her early days with the syndicate. She is eager to please Jaxon and doesn’t want to step out of line, oh how so different from the young woman we know now. The story follows her first assignment to track down a hostile poltergeist. It’s not got a huge amount of back-story that wasn’t revealed in the novels, but it’s a reasonable filler whilst we wait for The Song Rising.
