Review of 'Reading Lolita in Tehran' on 'Goodreads'

This book provides a human face to the citizens of totalitarianism, while providing context through literature, which I thought interesting. She writes that both sides (left and right) wanted revolution, and at one point she wasn't sure which side really meant better. Either side went too far.

Her perspective of being forced to wear a veil and remain covered at all times is important, because it brings to light how much of a sign of oppression the veil has become, even to strict adherents of Islam (which, from I gather, the author is not).
