For readers who've been following Quinn's Symthe-Smith series, THE SUM OF ALL KISSES is the book where we finally learn about exactly what happened between Daniel Smythe-Smith and Hugh Prentiss. In previous books, Hugh has been portrayed as somewhat callous and maybe a little evil, since it was because of him that Daniel had been banished from England for several years. In THE SUM OF ALL KISSES we get to know Hugh and learn that all is not what we believed it to be concerning that fateful duel.

Hugh and Sarah are well matched, in that neither one of them comes off very well in previous books, but are redeemed here. Taking place over the span of two weeks or so, both Hugh and Sarah are forced to share each others company during a double family wedding. Neither one likes the other very much in the beginning, but as they spend more time together, they begin to realize they have more in common than they thought.
THE SUM OF ALL KISSES is a really fun book and was a breeze to read. I generally enjoy Julia Quinn's books and this was no different, with its sparkling wit and charming secondary characters. Both newcomers to her work and fans alike will find something to enjoy in THE SUM OF ALL KISSES.
