Fascinerende verzameling verhalen

Gelezen naar aanleiding van de film Perfect Days. Hoofdpersoon Hirayama leest een aantal pockets in de film, waaronder deze van Highsmith. Die ken ik enkel van The Talented Mister Ripley, al las ik het boek nooit, zag ik de film nooit en keek ik de serie nooit. Na lezing van deze verhalenbundel sluit ik niet uit dat The Talented Mister Ripley ook gelezen gaat worden.

Eleven bevat elf bizarre verhalen vol immorele typetjes. Persoonlijk vond ik The Quest for Blank Claveringi het meest bizar, over een man die op zoek gaat naar een mensenetende reuzenslak ter meerdere eer en glorie van zichzelf, en daaraan ten onder gaat.
