Realgnomidad reviewed The Malady of Death by Marguerite Duras

An erotic, abstract tale of alienation that makes me think of a room on the Southern coast of France where I smoke foul French cigarettes and make occasional jokes about 'stupid Americans' while the loneliness of modern existence is explained by Sarte. He is wearing a beret and sits on a stool in the corner. He alternates between ignoring me, reading from his famous cookbook, and speaking for 24 minutes at a stretch about the sadness of being and the hidden elation embedded in that sadness.
