As a trans person, it was really nice to learn that Harry Potter was largely a reproduction of A Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula K. Le Guin. What's more, the original wizarding school was populated entirely by people of color.

Just finished 's VOICES, second book in the Annals of the Western Shore trilogy. As ever I'm awed by how vividly she depicts her worlds, like I just returned from a visit to Ansul. This trilogy may not get the level of attention gets, but I think they're just as lovely.

Finished the early first three novels (1968—1972) of Ursula Le Guin's Earthsea cycle.

There are so many fantasy stories full of masculine muscle play, stupid violence and ridiculously shallow human characters & relationships. Not so those of Ursula Le Guin. They are beautiful stories about personal growth saturated with humane values, wisdom & wit.
