The #Trieste 🇮🇹 to #Opicina tram is still “fuori servizio”. Resumption of traffic is (again) a rather distant perspective.
Meanwhile, the lovely “Bar alla Tramvia” at the upper terminus continues serving coffee, drinks and snacks, to potential passengers and tram spotters alike.

At #Opicina 🇮🇹 station earlier today. An #ÖBB 🇦🇹 Class 1216 #E190 #Taurus in #nightjet livery has hauled #EuroCity #Emona up the ramp from #Trieste. A Slovenian #SŽ 🇸🇮 Class 342, nicknamed #Moped, takes over. It’s a short consist: three ÖBB open plan 2nd class carriages only. No 1st class and no bicycle van today.

Bad news for the #Trieste to #Opicina #tram: new requirements to be met before traffic resumes (or thereafter, that’s the question).

When visiting #Opicina 🇮🇹, a stop at the lovely “Bar alla Tramvia” is always part of our programme. However, once again, there aren’t any trams operating on the line to and from #Trieste, a line which includes a funicular section. Some paperwork is still outstanding, we are told.

Our holidays in #Istria usually come with a visit to the #Parenzana trail. This is a hiking and cycling route, built on the trackbed of the disused #Trieste 🇮🇹 and #Koper 🇸🇮 to #Poreč 🇭🇷 narrow gauge railway line which dates back to Habsburg times. Some mileposts are still there.

The (non-)resumption of traffic on the #Trieste 🇮🇹 to #Opicina tram line: a never-ending story. I made a brief stop at the line’s upper terminus earlier this week, for coffee at the “Bar alla Tramvia”. There was plenty of activity going on in the workshops - yet it seems that the re-start of any scheduled tram service is far away.

Among the finest moments European rail travel can offer: enjoying the freshly cooked breakfast ☕️🍳 in the lovely Slovenian @slozeleznice @diningcar of #EuroCity “Emona” from #Vienna 🇦🇹 to #Ljubljana 🇸🇮 and #Trieste 🇮🇹 while travelling over the scenic #Semmering line.

A visit to #Opicina 🇮🇹 tram station and workshops: everything seems to be ready for departure, yet there is no sign that service on the line from #Trieste would resume any time soon.
However, as always, the lovely “Bar alla Tramvia” ☕️ is up and running.

Among the European railway classics: #EuroCity 151 #Emona from #Vienna 🇦🇹 to #Ljubljana 🇸🇮 and #Trieste 🇮🇹. This train includes Austrian and Slovenian cars and runs over the #Unesco world heritage #Semmering route.

Bagno in mare vestite: al Pedocin di Trieste la protesta contro un gruppo di donne musulmane. Per riportare la calma è dovuta intervenire la security dello stabilimento. Altre bagnanti si sono schierate in loro difesa.
