Natalie Sue: I Hope This Finds You Well (2024, HarperCollins Publishers)

Best,

A great book for a debut!! I saw other readers leave some negative reviews because they did not like the characters or found it flat but I picked this up for an easy, breezy read and I got exactly that. Jolene is not a likeable character. Shes an asshole and rather grumpy but these people exist. People exist of all sorts of varying degrees of emotional intelligence and maturity. I enjoyed the story, the characters and the outcome. I found it worth the read to the end and thoroughly enjoyed Jolene's journey into healing as well as development.

Favorite DCC

By far my favorite Dungeon Crawler Carl book. 8th has been immensely fun with the characters, side quests, and the system that the author came up with. I forced myself to pause often while listening to the audiobook to savor it. I never want it to end.

Liz Moore: The God of the Woods (2024, Penguin Publishing Group)

Solid

The audiobook started really slow and I was unsure if I was going to like this book. However, after putting in some time I grew increasingly invested in all the characters. All of them were really fleshed out and I enjoyed all the different POVs. The setting was well described and towards the end, when you get to acknowledgements you find that the author really did her homework which I appreciated. For a historical fiction, it seemed very accurate with the period and reminds me of how far we have come with women within society. The ending I found was worth. Again, just a little slow in beginning but I found resolution worth it and everything makes sense and is logical. The stories really felt like they could have been real as someone who has watched quite a bit of true crime.

Beautifully Written

I listened to the book but may have been better read than listened to. Was not a bad listen though. The narrator's were great. The writing exquisite and beautiful. This is the first book ive read by two authors and the way things intertwined was great. Theres a lot of dichotomy throughout the novella and worth reading until the end. Best going into it without knowing much about it. As a birder though I do love the bird references and the beauty of the world they created; throughout all strands. Solid and would recommend

Brilliant

Brilliant novel. This is my first "whodunit" and I loved it. The characters were very interesting and it was def a meta approach he took. It was extremely clever and had a lot of references to Agatha Christie. The first story captured the period well while aligning later with his second story. It is a solid read and I recommend.
