Will Eaves (author): Murmur (2018, CB Editions)

Damn

I rarely finish books in less than three days, let alone in one sitting. I loved this very much! It's certainly an experience. I'm also thinking that I'll have a lot of fun putting in what I felt and absorbed from this book into my own work. I hope I can do it justice.

Jeff Kinney: Diary of a Wimpy Kid: No Brainer (Hardcover, 2024, Abrams, Inc.)

Up until now, middle school hasn’t exactly been a joyride for Greg Heffley. So when …

Very fun

Kinney is great at setting up Chekhov's Guns and foreshadowing, but I feel like the events in this book were a bit of a stretch, as in a bit too unbelievable for the suspension of disbelief. The pacing especially around the end was a bit too rushed in my opinion. I do really love the parts in the beginning in which the school takes in a ton of sponsorships and the books in the library getting censored, and those were some of the more realistic parts of the book. So yeah, not the best, but still pretty good!!

Yılmaz Aslantürk: Otisabi - Manga Serisi 4 (Paperback, Turkish language, Komikşeyler)

This was great

Aside his brilliant linework, Aslantürk went all in for the backgrounds in this one, and I LOVE it! The reason this is a five-star is that queerbaiting is discussed in one chapter and I think it was done well. Clumsily, but it was fun to read and the intentions were clear, if you know what I mean.

Jeff Kinney: Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Diper Överlöde (2022, Penguin Books, Limited)

In Diper Överlöde, book 17 of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series from #1 …

Very fun

DOAWK really cures your reading slump. People often say that the series has become very unrealistic compared to the old DOAWK, but I'm more of a fan of over-the-top adventures so I tend to really like the newer books in the series. And it was funny too, I giggled a lot! My problems were only on overreliance on bathroom humor in some parts and some parts were a bit too unrealistic in my opinion. Other than that, I loved it!
