I now have the theory that having a fever might be the best way of getting into PKD’s trippier works. It certainly did the job here, making this gem an unputdownable, utterly absorbing thriller in my mind.
Will have to revisit when not sick to test the theory, something I already look forward to.

No idea how but Ray Bradbury just writes pure nostalgia. Made me miss a childhood I never had.
Also while mostly being a cozy read this book featured the scariest scene I have ever read.

What a beautifully written, dark and honestly sickening fever dream. There have been times when I would have absolutely loved it but now it was a struggle to get through despite the stunning prose. Definitely a book that has a lot to reveal when taking a closer look, I just don’t think I have the stomach for it.

So powerful, truly an important read. In a lot of ways the best book I’ve read about the atrocities of slavery in the US.
However, the writing style made it hard for me to get through or grow attached to the characters to feel the emotional impact I was expecting to feel.
But to be honest I’m not sure Beloved got a fair shot from me, as I probably wasn’t in the right headspace for it.

Definitely looking forward to checking out more Morrison!
