Randy Wayne White: One Deadly Eye (2024, Harlequin Enterprises ULC) No rating

Devoured this in a weekend. I have read every Doc Ford and Hannah Smith novel by White. An action-filled page-turner. Possibly the thinnest of these books. It felt, like some other books in the series, like part one of a two-parter. I also read the parts about the hurricane going through as if they were at least semi-autobiographical about White's experience on Sanibel Island during Hurricane Ian in 2023.

finished reading Wool by Hugh Howey

Hugh Howey: Wool (Hardcover, 2013, Simon & Schuster) 4 stars

If you're coming to "Wool" from the "Silo" TV series, the plot unfolds in the book a lot differently than in the show. We end up pretty much in the same place, but we get there on a different journey. I think I like the book's treatment a bit better.

I read this the closest to seeing the companion series on TV so the comparisons came easily. (I've read all after seeing the series once.) The TV series didn't seem to stray as far from the book in this one as in some of the others.
