I didn't like the reader's performance very much. It might have been a deliberate choice to be more choppy and less smooth, but I found it jarring more than once.

I had to make myself finish this one. Self-made tragedy, financial ruin porn, and schadenfreude. The edifices of self-delusion are very human but feel like wallowing.
