Just finished the movie and my first thought was "Damn that would've been a good book"... so I'm reading the book
Never read a novelization of a movie before, wonder how that turns out. (Is it like a reverse of movies based on books? Am I gonna end up thinking "The movie was so much better"?)
This book takes apart the diagnostic criteria for autism, explaining every criterion in detail, answering questions, and giving countless examples by autistic people.
It's worth mentioning that this book isn't about autism in general, but specifically about people who might be missed until adulthood, specifically autistics without learning difficulties who camouflage. While the book itself isn't written by autistic people, the authors consulted autistic people both for examples and for proof-reading, and it shows.
If you've been looking for a book clarifying the current diagnostic criteria (ICD-11 and DSM-5-TR) in regard to masked autistic people, I highly recommend this book
IMO the best book on autism I've read so far (and ive read a lot of them)
