Unravel me

I don't like this book....I hate the love triangle, the main character is quite annoying, one of the love interests is a horrible person and is romanticized because he has trauma, and I hate to admit this but the only slightly bearable character is Kenji. This book is a never ending roller coaster but yet, no matter how bad the story, plot, and characters are the writing is still so unique and because at times this book still managed to make me truly care about its characters i'll give it three stars.

I feel like this book loses something of what made Juliette a compelling character in the first novel. It's still fun, if somewhat filled with angst (as only teenage romance stories can be), with the added benefits of a mutant filled dystopia, but I think I've hit my capacity for tolerating whingey self-doubt from our protagonist. In spite of the new levels of badassery she seems less coherent in terms of motivation. I don't expect PTSD to result in cogent thought processes, but neither does it produce compelling internal monologue. There is so much in this world that could bear closer scrutiny; the angst does not need it.
