i don't even care that this story is gay. even if the relationship was less explicitly compared to that of soulmates or married couples i would still love it? for me the story doesn't become boring in the second half; that's the most interesting part of the story. gilgamesh doing anything he can to achieve immortality and ulitimately finding out that it's hopeless – that's why i even started to read it. If you are looking for a gay romance go read a gay romance novel. It's honestly on you (or whoever falsely advertised this poem to you) if you are disappointed by the relationship in the story.

This DOES show a deep love between the two characters, and great grief on gilgamesh's part. I've also seen someone saying "he doesn't even pursue immortality for his dead lover". I wouldn't like it if he did. His lover and the first guy to be his equal in strength dies randomly. It makes him think, for the first time, about his own mortality and he is terrified. That's way more realistic and timeless.

I liked Xyon at first, but he quickly became a sort of macho-like figure so of course he turns out to be Calhoun's son. insufferable guy mark 2. he does seem more sympathetic than his dad so far. I liked how he dropped the altruistic pretense in the psychic attack scene near the end, it makes his character more believable. having a real love-hate relationship with peter david's special little guys.
I like riella/kalinda. at the beginning her story seemed a lot like a standard YA plot which I thought was cool and by the end I liked her even more.
What bothered me about this book was that it didn't involve the regulars very much and instead set up these two characters, which made it a bit boring. I have some beef with how Soleta was used in this book as her lines sometimes seem a bit stupid.

Right off the bat this book is very chaotic, Christine keeps jumping back and forth and it can be soo annoying and feels a bit overused honestly. It's clearly on purpose but makes reading it in one sitting a bit hard. The story is very sad and very very good in my opinion. You really emphasize with the main character very quickly
