I actually bought this back in 2012 and, somehow, every time I started another book, I overlooked this one. Now that I've read it, I wish I had done so sooner. It very much exceeded expectations. Makes me wish there was a sequel.

I liked this much better than his previous book, largely because I found it more plausible. While it probably will play out differently than he writes, there's clearly some sort of reckoning coming for the long-term use of water to make the SW United States a hospitable place for millions of people to live.

I enjoyed the synopsis enough to buy it. Then, a chapter into it, I nearly abandoned it. In the end, I enjoyed it as the bit of light-hearted entertainment it is.
