Fast readers, were you always fast? Or did you learn? I can't, for the life of me, not linger and daydream, roll the sentences around on my tongue. Meanwhile all the books in the world go unread.
@quaad if it helps, in my case, I automatically read fast. It is Extremely Difficult for me to savor what I'm reading (occasionally I can manage to chew on a good sentence). And it's a problem people don't understand having. Like, part of it is "search engines really suck now" but if you search online for: How To Read Slower all the results are about SPEEDING UP your reading.
So I think there's strengths to both, and it may be best to appreciate what you have
@lapis i honestly hadn't thought about this possibility, thanks for sharing. there are so many good books and interesting ideas that it can be frustrating, whatever your reading style. i'm grateful for bookwyrm and all the good folks on here for making me aware of so many good books, some of which i may actually read.
