The English language was a bit too intellectual and difficult for me. It was hard sometimes to understand what was being said or what the author meant. I also hated the fact that almost every sentence had to be said in different ways. I felt like every page could have been shortened by half. It was so repetitive.

I also was very bored at Elio being overly obsessed about Oliver. We all might have been star struck once in our lives, but how Elio acts throughout this story is just plain disgusting at times. Not even mentioning the peach-thing. What the hell.

The last chapter made the story a bit better, but still not enough to make this a good story.

What the actual fuck. I have no idea what I just read.
I have to be honest and say that I skipped big chunks of it, because it just didn’t make sense at all.
The pages about Dead Papa Toothwort were ridiculous. And the fancy text in between the paragraphs, what was that all about?

Also the way it’s written. Half of the time I had no idea who was saying what. It hurt my brain.

I pretty much learned nothing from this book, sadly.

The first 2 chapters were promising, but then it just went down hill. It was very repititive and I can not hear the word “entitled” again.

I can’t help but feel that this entire book could have been on one sheet of paper.

Beautiful story that made me laugh and cry. (But I did not know there was a book before this one called Poppy Day. It would have helped me understand some things a little better.)

In the beginning I thought it would be a typical story about cancer: she’ll heal or she’ll die in the end and this story will be only about her feeling sick and people around her will feel bad and so on. But eventually it was way more than that.

Some unexpected things happen, which kept my attention triggered at all times. The love between Polly and Martin is so beautiful and perfectly portrayed. Also the character of Peg was so well written... It was great to have their background story, so I could love Polly and Martin even more.

Read it.

YES YES YESSSS! I love it when a story starts up a fire deep inside. Damn. What a great book! I must say that I had to adapt a bit to the slang English, but it made it all the more real to me. I loved every bit of it. This is a must read for everybody. You better be buying this book right now!
