A strong sequel to Catfishing on CatNet which spins the character development further. The plot is a bit more intense than the first one but it is still mostly lighthearted. This time I also heard the audibook version - the choice of a "male" voice for Cat is a bit jarring. It should have just been kept as being read by the narrator.

A book I read down in one day and immediately started the sequel. It is fun, has a diverse cast and a light-hearted tone but is also meaningful. It touches darker issues in a respectful way and has a fast developing plot. But what struck me most when I read this "ten minute in the future" young adult novel is how it describes friendships online and offline. I never before have read a book that described my own way of treating internet spaces and friendships and what they mean to me so accurately.

A wonderful young adult novel full of vibrant places and people. The descriptions draw you right in and the cast of characters is diverse and charming.

Eines meiner Lieblingsbücher von der Scheibenwelt, jetzt vorgelesen weil das Kind im richtigen Alter dazu ist und etwas "Lustiges und Ernstes" wollte. Eignet sich hervorragend zum kapitelweise Vorlesen und hat die richtige Mischung aus Ernsthaftigkeit, ein bisschen Grusel, Witz und Spannung. Die Übersetzung ist gelungen, wobei ich finde, dass man den Nac Mac Feegle einfach ihren Namen hätte lassen können. Als Einstieg in die Scheibenwelt jedenfalls sehr gut geeignet.

Ich habe das ohne Vorinformation gelesen und daher erst gedacht, es ist ein Vampirroman, das ist aber nicht der Fall, zumindest nicht im klassischen Sinn. Kann man gut weglesen und das Konzept von mentalen Landschaften ist interessant und schön plastisch geschrieben. Mit ein paar weniger Klischees wäre es noch besser gewesen.

Ein alter Favorit, den ich jetzt meinem Kind vorgelesen habe, zufällig passend zur Adventszeit (das Buch endet am ersten Advent). Das habe ich früher schon einmal versucht aber jetzt war es wohl erst das richtige Alter. Die Abenteuergeschichte im ersten Teil und die Coming-of-Age-Story im zweiten sind auch immer noch unter den besten, die ich bis heute gelesen habe. Erstaunlich ist es, dass das Buch mir bisher in allen Lebensphasen etwas Neues eröffnet hat, ob als Kind, Jugendliche, junge Erwachsene oder jetzt als Mutter. Für mich war natürlich auch besonders schön zu sehen, wie mein eigenes Kind so gepackt wurde dass es teilweise die Zubettgehzeit vorverlegte, nur damit ich eine ganze Stunde vorlesen kann.
