rra reviewed Oroppa by Safae el Khannoussi
Disquieting, rich and refreshing
5 stars
Stories with depth and sadness from the elusive 21st arrondissement, where losers, drinkers and stoners gather. Having fled the traumas lived and inflicted on others in Maghrebi prisons, the characters cross paths again while living new lives in Oroppa's cities. The language was too often a bit bulky to my liking but the quality of world building and story telling more than makes up.
