Best book I've read in a long time. Can't wait to read the others. The story has all the things that make fantasy glorious - the intrigues, the magic, the history, the creatures, the politics - and none of the things that usually bother me in the genre.
Gorgeous writing. Brilliant storytelling. Intriguing characters. Fascinating worldbuilding. Captivating plot.
Seriously, it is that good. Read it.

After the awesome first book, this was really disappointing.
The first book was great with all the learning and tinkering and stuff.
But this one was just fighting with an enemy, then fighting with a strong enemy, then an even stronger enemy, then a super strong enemy, then a mega strong enemy, then a uber mega strong enemy, and somehow always surviving and often beating them against all odds in a way that was absolutely not believable to me. honestly, if I want a dragonball style plot development I can just watch dragonball.
I don't think I'll read the other books of this series unless I get really desperate.
