Suggested to me by my writing coach as I'm about to start writing a romance series. This book just makes sense, though it wasn't until I read it that I realized how important it would be. Now I'm in a much better frame of mind for my upcoming series.

I've been intrigued by the well-spoken Pete Buttigieg since before he announced his candidacy for the 2020 Democratic nomination and saw he'd written a book. I actually picked up the audiobook version of the book, narrated by Buttigieg, and listened to it while I exercised, etc, and found that I had a hard time putting it away. Buttigieg's story, from his beginnings in South Bend to his unsuccessful bid for the DNC Chair is compelling. And one thing about him - he didn't shy away from controversy. He's one that is able to admit mistakes when the situation called for it. It's what makes him one of the most honest people running for President.
Definitely a good read! Now on to 2020!

This book was a little slow to start, but once in the thick of it, I couldn't put it down. Just wish there was more!
I wanted to like this, because it's a wonderful concept. But i just couldn't get past the head-hopping POV changes that jerked the reader through the scene. And stupid little things, too, like going through the explanation of eating at a vegetarian restaurant, but ordering shrimp cocktails? I managed to get through to the fifth chapter before calling it quits.

The way the book unfolds, you cannot help but feel like it's going on around you because of how immersed you get into Dustin's world. Dustin Graves. That gave me a chuckle right there.
Dustin's world was so real, through how Nazri describes it, that you can easily get lost for hours along with the characters. Without giving too much away, there are some parts of the book that have you laughing, while others have you gripping your reader so tight because of the tension. There were a couple of times when I thought that the particular scene was going a little too far. And I won't spoil anything, but there was one death that irked me a bit. But beyond that, this was definitely a fun read. I didn't realize, going into it, that there's a little bit on the book cover that says, "Once. A Pun. A time." Didn't get it at the time. But oh, I freaking adored Dawson & Hearne's writing style.

Nance keeps you in the thick of it
I’ve always been a Nance fan, and this book is no different. Captain Mitchell is in an incredible, yet impossible position, and you’re there for the ride. The book is well paced, keeping the reader on their toes from start to finish. If you like thrillers, this is a good one.
Five stars for content, though I will say there are a few typos throughout the book. They’ll get caught soon enough, though.

This was a really fun book, and it's changed the way that I think about daily life. I need to implement some of Sincero's methodologies other than the daily meditation that I've picked up.
This is the first book on writing that actually made me sit down and realize not just what I was doing wrong as a writer, but what I can do to make the end result better. While it's a guideline, Hawker has put it together in such a way that you can't help but see the entire book in your head, including where the gaps are. I'm rewriting a book right now, but this book is causing me to go back through my already existing edits and rewrite entire sections again - with a much better outcome.
If you are a writer, I cannot urge you enough to read this book. I've already purchased a bunch of copies for friends, so that they can benefit as well.
