hello, to my audience of one (myself)...when you look back on this book, you'll find you earmarked a bunch of pages with sentences and sentiments that took you back in time, awash in waves of memories and feelings. things that you also have trouble grasping and holding onto in the oceanic stew of opinions, takes, and lectures that define our world. but the occasional pulse of recognizing a familiar feeling, and seeing it in a new place, from an unknown person writing an unknown book, how nice

hard to describe how i feel about this book, it built slow all the way until the last third or so, and it has moments that are very relatable and also many moments that aren't. mostly because the main character is by design a super unlikeable person. but im reveling in the ambiguity and i don't mind it.

estimated start/finish...bought in 2014, the first half was so slow, and then the second half was so fast. I was inspired to read this because of the Cloudkicker Subsume EP

unknown finish date (estimated). an entertaining and really interesting dive into the realities of fame, particularly in the internet age.

i don't actually know when i read this, but i bought it on amazon at this date. I also only remember enjoying it quite a bit :)

the smutty part was a bit too straightforward, emotionally, and isn't quite my speed, but i really liked the queer storytelling that doesn't try to cater to the straight market!

my favorite part---the moments between reading psalm for the wild built and going into this. my first duology! and what a satisfying structural narrative. one of my favorite surprise series to stumble upon.

i feel so happy thinking about the experience of reading this book---the premise, the queerness, the eco-feminism, the sex-positive---and it makes me happy to think that this could be someone's introduction to soft sci fi.

The book dredged up my sense of loss as I read it, and it didn't resolve it, but it made me feel good about it.

my first encounter with the 👑, ursula k. le guin. i remember really enjoying the thorough worldbuilding of the moon colony and the whiplash of then being thrown into a totally opposing environment. fun with atopias
