I read a lot of books that normally kids don't read at the age when I did. It was my mom's policy to let me have access to literature as "smart" or "silly" as I cared for.
Reading this book as an adult, however, makes me appreciate it even more. See, this is not really a kids' book in the subjects it covers, but also it's a perfect book to serve as a formative bit of literature for children!
During the 70s in the West there was a boom of zen Buddhism, but all of people who were eager to spend all that money on gurus, could have just as well simply purchased a copy of Moominland Midwinter.
It's hard for me to pick a quote of the book as there are so many strong lines and brilliant (I use that word precisely here, in a rather concrete way) passages, …
