Not for me
2 stars
The book has a lot of things that feel like I should have enjoyed it (AI entities, a Seven Samurai style battle, aliens and implicit politics that align with my own and more) and yet I was bored through it. It may have been my failure, but did not engage with any of the characters much at all, only moment that I could tell a real difference between some of them was towards the end, when their actions were very much focused on their skills and since those skills were different, the situations provided some differentiation.
Due to the lack of connection with the characters, it also felt almost like the book petered out, more than finished.
The writing also did not excite me or challenge me (not that I need either, but sometimes fun/creative writing can add value when the story itself is not reaching me.)
