Marguerite Florian has spent her life acquiring and selling information, using whatever means necessary. When she falls afoul of a powerful former employer, her usual methods of self-preservation no longer work. Fortunately, she has collected enough favors to attempt an audacious scheme to undermine her enemies.

With the service of Shane, a paladin of a dead god and much too handsome for his own good, Marguerite will be forced to navigate a glittering and dangerous court, northern wilds, and the cult of a demon in a brazen attempt to destabilize an entire economy.

Intrigue and violence were to be expected, but is Marguerite prepared for the battle for her soul—and her heart?

Less focus on romance, but spicier romance too

This installment comes smack dab in the middle of the planned 7-book series. We spend a lot of page time on worldbuilding and plot setup, so the couple doesn't have too much tension - or even really all that much pining. However, we do get a really nice taste of some D/s dynamics with the couple, which is a fun departure from the books so far. I really liked this one - although now I'm pretty bummed I'll have to wait for the next 3 to come out.

A 'wonderful installment in the Saint of Steel series.

Wonderful characters, danger, romance and humor. This time it's more of a rescue mission.

The special bonus is that towards the end we get to learn a bit more about the nature of demons, gods and saints.

Another satisfying book in the Saint of Steel series

Another satisfying book in the Saint of Steel series, better than the previous one IMO. Finally we find out what happened to Marguerite, and in the process also meet some wonderful new paladins, and get another step closer to finding out what did happen to the Saint of Steel ...

Paladin's Faith

Paladin's Faith is the fourth book in T. Kingfisher's sad paladin romance fantasy series. I really appreciate the genre mix: the fantasy adds interesting context to the world (and often some mystery being tracked down) as well as a compelling plot, while the romance bit adds the genre comfort of having a rough idea of the story arc that is likely ahead. The book's details aren't predictable other than at its broadest strokes of both romance and fantasy foreshadowing, but it's an echo of the coziness you get in rereading something you've read before but can't quite remember.

Overall, all of these books are just solid enjoyable reads for me and I'm excited for the rest of the series. I think specifically this book competes with the first one for being my most favorite so far.

I have been informed secondhand via birdsite that this is apparently book …
