This was really good...besides being predictable, having a few bizarre choices, and being obviously a man trying to write from a woman's perspective (we aren't generally that surprised when a tough female cop has an effeminate voice, for example). And he maybe should have researched child psychology better before writing this. Good, old fashioned whodunnit, in more ways than one (I refuse to believe even Baby Boomers are this internet illiterate). The film noir references were the only clever parts.

The main character was SO sad; she made me cry more than once :-(. The book was great. "Gas lighting" was evident from the start, but one never knew where was coming from and who was responsible. Impressions of the characters were constantly changing, but they were all appropriate, and although things didn't necessarily and the way one expected them to, there were no unreasonable leaps of belief.

I just reread the book. I remembered none the my first reading, but times not a commentary on the writing. I still liked it as well – still a good psychological thriller full of psychology, gas lighting, chills and thrills

Really liked this book. The one thing that annoyed me was how much Anna drank. I got a bit sick of that story arc, but I loved this book otherwise. I wondered how good the book would be, since it was about an agorophobic, which I did learn more about. I was able to predict some of the ending, which was why the book got the rating hat it did. I wasn't able to figure out all of it however. The book did make me want to kee reading though. :)
