... zumal der Protagonist Kinderarzt ist. Durchaus spannend, wenn auch nicht unbedingt spektakulär. Die Auflösung des ganzen ist wiederum interessant verwickelt, wird aber etwas konventionell präsentiert.
Well-written, fast-paced and ingenuously plotted thriller that made me miss one night of sleep, urged to finish the book. Also some minor downsides: if a situation or a personage is introduced (such as the drug overlord) you can be sure he or she will play a key role in the unfolding story.
Harlan Coben is a master of this genre. Although this book is enjoyable, it is not quite as good as some of this other ones. The idea that a couple who love each other more than anything would completely separate from one another for years, yet yearn for each other, makes for a great mystery. However, the reason for such a separation has to be ultimately very compelling, and I don't think the author pulled that difficult task off. It is nonetheless a worthy page-turner.
My first introduction to Mr. Coben, making him one of my favorite authors instantly. The book kept me guessing to the last page, literally.
