This was exactly what I needed right now - a nice story with likeable protagonists, the promise of a HAE, and still enough tension to not be ENTIRELY SURE what the HAE actually will be :D Really liked it!

Say Yes to the Marquess is the second book in the Castles Ever After series and while it isn’t quite as much fun as Romancing the Duke, I still enjoyed it quite a lot. In Say Yes to the Marquess, we have Clio who has been engaged to Piers Brandon for eight long years. While Piers has been off building a name for himself as a foreign diplomat, Piers’ brother Rafe has been in England serving as Piers’ agent. Now that Piers has announced that he’s heading home and is ready to marry Clio, Clio has decided she’s done with waiting for Piers and she’s heading off to run a castle she’s recently inherited.

The premise that keeps this series together is that each heroine’s godfather has left her a castle in his will. That plot point is completely glossed over here and honestly, it’s kind of unbelievable. But if you’re willing to suspend your disbelief on how Clio ends up with the castle, this turns into a cute story about a woman who decides to stop waiting for her life to start, and to start living it.
Rafe, on the other hand, has spent so much time being the black sheep of the family, that he’s unwilling to allow Clio and Piers’ engagement to be one more thing that he messed up. He decides that Clio just has cold feet and sets his mind towards planning the perfect wedding for her. Of course, because this is a Tessa Dare book, hijinks ensue. Although I found Rafe brutish in the beginning and I wasn’t sure if I liked him, he quickly became the perfect complement to Clio and I settled in to watch them fall in love. If you’re already a fan of Tessa Dare, you probably already know that you’ll like this. If you’re new to her work, you’re in for a treat.
