In previous books, Holocaust historian Timothy Snyder dissected the events and values that enabled the rise of Hitler and Stalin and the execution of their catastrophic policies. With Twenty Lessons, Snyder draws from the darkest hours of the twentieth century to provide hope for the twenty-first. As he writes, "Americans are no wiser than the Europeans who saw democracy yield to fascism, Nazism and communism. Our one advantage is that we might learn from their experience."

Review of 'Sobre la tiranía' on 'Goodreads'

I bought this book a couple years ago, intending to read it. Rachel Maddow reminded me about it today with her interview of the author, Timothy Snyder today (actually, yesterday on her show).
He makes several really good points, but he reminds me how scared I am of the ex-president and his lackeys in regards to our security as a country and a democracy. And, of course, with my own current physical state, I feel frustrated and helpless :-( . All I can do is continue to raise my voice, and point out where I feel that our nation is being failed. Like many others, I am at a disadvantage on the money scale, but I do continue to support monetarily where I hope it can be used to support our ideals and country and help stave off tyranny.
