Great character development and setting. Using an AI as the protagonist is an interesting move, especially since this came out in 2013. The focus on behavior and perception, given an almost omnipresent intelligence, keeps tension up when it wouldn't be otherwise. If you liked the bar scene in Inglorious Basterds you'll pick up on it quick here. Looking forward to starting #2

I get where this was going and the kinds of motifs it wanted to subvert, but it just didn't land for me.

I really enjoyed how immersive Heller gets with describing the setting. I've visited Colorado a couple of times, and this made me want to be back there so much. The plot was a bit compressed. I don't often feel like a book should be longer, but this one could have done with a little more fleshing out towards the end.
