I read in transitional spaces - ok let's be less pretentious: I mostly read on the go, when I can. Mainly sci-fi, fantasy and non-Ficition about medicine or finance.

The book starts with a very light tone despite the circumstances. It paints a happy picture. The last chapter hits like a punch in the gut and tbh I cried while reading it. Trevors memories are vivid, beautiful and help to understand another country maybe a little bit better. I've already enjoyed him as a talkshow hoast and his thoughts, but this book makes me appreciate him even more.
Definitely recommended, even if you don't know or care for Trevor Noah. Just a great memoir.

I didn't know what to expect when I bought this book, based on Zhao's great video essays. It catched me right away with the complex, fleshed out characters. The final twist was logical, but I still didn't see it coming - also the layers of societal critique she waved in so effortlessly

Another great book of medical and life anecdotes, questioning our perception of time and quality of life. The stories were moving, both in a sadening and joyous way. Lay people might need to look up some terminology, but all in all I think it's written wonderfully and insightful. The openness and compassion of Oliver Sacks is palpable.
