Kalynn Bayron: You're Not Supposed to Die Tonight (EBook, Bloomsbury Publishing) 4 stars

Review of "You're Not Supposed to Die Tonight" on 'Goodreads'

This is one of the best horror thriller books I have ever read.

I totally admit to thinking it would not be very scary due to the cover. I was very wrong. I could barely handle the gore.

This is one of those books where somehow the cover and the plot are both enticing and deliver beyond what you think you will be getting. I am beyond impressed with this one and I need about 20 more of them immediately. This has absolutely changed my preferences for thrillers and horrors a bit too.

LOVED this one and will recommend it to every horror and thriller fan who is looking for a good book. This is the perfect length too.

I am still processing how good this book is.

I am surprised I hadn't heard of it once? Like why is this not a book more people are talking about? I devoured this at times and at other times wanted to indulge in it like a fine chocolate. This almost never happens for me with books. There's a second one coming next year and honestly, so pumped.

Will recommend this book to anyone who enjoys fantasy books - this one blew me away. I'm obsessed.

Passion Book Blog Full Review Here Too <3

This book is precious, light-hearted, made me giggle, but also has sad moments. I loved the fun tension in the beginning and the evolvement of their relationship. The spice level is also a solid 3 chilli peppers I would say.... This has some good spice in it.

I do wish so many events throughout the book didn't focus on them drinking, but I think that was meant to add to the small town vibe? I think adding content warnings for the final edition will be very important.

I just don't think I am a big romance reader. This book is out of my comfort zone as far as setting and plot, and I am glad I picked it up. It made me giggle several times and I kept rooting for them to get together. I just realized there wasn't so much alcohol …

I am usually pretty picky when it comes to fantasy and young adult books. This book swept me off my feet, had me emotionally engrossed, and had me devastated. Lauren Blackwood combined artful world building with serious topics, a unique setting, and really well developed characters. I am still seething over the villain.

I will heavily recommend this book to anyone wanting to get into fantasy. This is a wonderful read!!

Ok so initially I actually had to put this one down about 50 pages in because I was really ill at the time and had read one too many gore books so I think I was hyper sensitive to blood and gore descriptions. If you are as well, pick this one up when you feel a bit better.

His writing style is truly something unique and beautiful.

Throughout the book we follow Viv while she tries to recover from an injury. She stumbles upon a bookshop she believes to be shut down, and the rest is history. There’s a baker that has the hots for Viv. I won’t give anything else away, but I loved this book.

I honestly read this book so fast I inhaled it. I will have to do an annual re-read of this book. It's exactly what you hope and want from a gorgeous black and neon green cover - shocking, in your face, and humor thrown in. It is more sad than I thought it would be, but I feel the humor helped balance out the sadness and showed the author does understand the gravity of the content at hand, so I enjoyed it for that.

This is one of the smaller hardcover books I own now and it's just such a wonderful book, I am so happy I found this at the book store!

What did I just read? Still processing this. I couldn't put this one down and was filled with concern and confusion the whole time.

See my full thoughts here

This was "Alice In Wonderland style" trippy with science, hallucinations, a very eerie location, and a serious expedition. I say that because this book does not read like a typical book.

I genuinely love it when authors push the limits of what a book can read like. This book is trippy and confusing in all the best ways and I totally understand why many people do not connect with it. I LOVE sci-fi so pulling on all the strings of technical possibilities in an unknown area got me sucked in.

I have the second book on the way because this is just so fascinating and such a fun reading experience. Genuine art.

Because my brain chemistry wasn't altered and I didn't …

This is a super cozy book. I have [b:Bookshops & Bonedust|65213543|Bookshops & Bonedust (Legends & Lattes, #0)|Travis Baldree|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1678122626l/65213543.SY75.jpg|100097047] ready to go on my TBR last as I enjoyed this one so much.

If you are someone that wants a lot of depth, gore, and fighting in your fantasy, this is definitely more of a cozy book. I was on the search for a cozy book, and this hit the spot.

I did find myself somewhat bored by the second half, but it's also an easy read, so it didn't dampen the experience. The last part almost made me cry though, even though it was foreshadowed, I wanted to take action myself, so I definitely bonded with Viv. I want her coffee now.

The world building and dialogue are the most impressive parts of this book. You are truly allowed to escape.
