This was my first bizarro fiction horror read, so I had to take some time to process it properly. Please proceed with caution with this book. It's disturbing.

I initially gave it a 4 star rating, but this plot was executed so well. For those that are looking for a true, extreme horror book with revenge and an extremely well executed plot, look no further. I could barely stomach this one. It will scare you as you read it, which is so extremely rare for me in a book. This author is genuinely so talented, and I am so grateful to have been able to be an early reader for this book.

This book hit the itch I needed to scratch. This is definitely extreme horror and gore done really well. The cover is sick too.

The writing style pulls you in and the descriptions are placed in sparingly but are incredibly demented. This is very creative gore and I am here for it. The attention to detail was awesome.

I didn't love the weird fake news bit and using the word "tweaker" to describe a houseless individual dependent on drugs, but I believe this was done to villainize the protagonist, so it worked. This book covers the Satanic Panic a bit as well, which was interesting to see play out.

The one thing I did not enjoy was the COVID virus being a theme throughout the book. I just wanted some gore splatter and am a bit fatigued by COVID.

I'm updating this feedback because unfortunately COVID is genuinely a part of reality and has been for years, and ignoring it at this point is a bit pointless. It added some realism to it. I just was annoyed by it at the time. This is a 5 star read.

PLEASE PROCEED WITH CAUTION. This is not a book for children, and is a horror book.

This book is precious, light-hearted, made me giggle, but also has sad moments. I loved the fun tension in the beginning and the evolvement of their relationship. The spice level is also a solid 3 chilli peppers I would say.... This has some good spice in it.

I do wish so many events throughout the book didn't focus on them drinking, but I think that was meant to add to the small town vibe? I think adding content warnings for the final edition will be very important.

I just don't think I am a big romance reader. This book is out of my comfort zone as far as setting and plot, and I am glad I picked it up. It made me giggle several times and I kept rooting for them to get together. I just realized there wasn't so much alcohol involved.

This was "Alice In Wonderland style" trippy with science, hallucinations, a very eerie location, and a serious expedition. I say that because this book does not read like a typical book.

I genuinely love it when authors push the limits of what a book can read like. This book is trippy and confusing in all the best ways and I totally understand why many people do not connect with it. I LOVE sci-fi so pulling on all the strings of technical possibilities in an unknown area got me sucked in.

I have the second book on the way because this is just so fascinating and such a fun reading experience. Genuine art.

Because my brain chemistry wasn't altered and I didn't feel a lot of emotion as a mood reader, I am rating this four stars. I have recently read other sci-fi books from lesser-known authors that I think are SO SO good and need to keep those ratings in mind as well.
