My reaction from every RA Salvatore book is the same. They all feel like a guilty pleasure, but they're a pleasure to read just the same. This one is no different. It isn't especially deep. I love Sanderson, but sometimes he hits you over the head a little too hard with the foreshadowing. I think he mentioned Wax's earring 47 times in The Alloy of Law. He revealed its purpose in Shadows of Self like it was a surprise, but anyone that read Era 1 had to have known what was coming.
