A Collection of Compelling Tales

4 stars

The second collection of short stories starring Geralt feels different than the first, with many of the disparate tales folding back into relevance as the book progresses. The final story was well conceived and written, setting all the major characters up with depth and motivation for the novel series that follows.

Among the better fantasy stories I’ve read; definitely recommend this one!

Most of my way through the Sword of Destiny short story now...feels meatier than the others. Don't want to spoil anything, but the supporting characters they introduce have a different level of depth and care given to them. Really enjoying it.

As an aside, I've been putting aside some time each evening to just read, and after a bit of and adjustment period, I'm now really looking forward to it. Nice to get the habit back into my routines.

Finished the short story "A Little Sacrifice" and found it to be a bit more poetic than the previous ones. Dandelion's closing to the chapter was...right and filled me with an appropriate feeling melancholy.

Really enjoying the book overall so far!

Finished up the first short story. Definitely didn’t expect the twist but it all made sense. Really enjoyed the web of competing desires and philosophies that developed; an enjoyable (and funny at parts!) short story. Looking forward to the rest.
