It was nice to go back to these books I read in elementary school. I was especially pleased to see the original illustrations too.

I arrived for the apple reviews, stayed for the novel!
I read this in 2021 after a year of events oddly reminiscent of the situation in the story. While some of the political context would already have been in place, the author would not have the context of the pandemic at the time of writing and publishing, making it a little more chilling to read now. It is a sweeping sci-fi story with an atmosphere similar to something like The Stand, much warmer than The Road, with maybe a touch of a Michael Crichton twist mixed in, but all Chuck Wendig. It is definitely in the humor and style I've encountered following the author through social media, which I was hoping for. This is my first of his novels and I intend to read more.

Daniel Lawson reviewed The Art of Agile Development by Shane Warden (Theory in practice)

There are great ideas here. I've not yet been in a situation where the whole approach was used, only parts. The author suggests that the real benefits of Agile paired with XP require going all in, the whole team. I can certainly imagine the results would be much better that way, but wonder how often companies go all in on it.

This is a fantastic deep dive into the enneagram. If you know the basics and want to get deeper or have had trouble figuring out your type, I would certainly recommend working through the subtypes. Each subtype is described in detail and many of the typical mis-types are described as well. This book helps explain the nuance and range of the enneagram.
