Cristina Rivera Garza: Death Takes Me (Hardcover, 2025, Hogarth, an imprint of Random House)

From the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of Liliana's Invincible Summer, a dreamlike, genre-defying novel about a …

I am sorry to Alejandra Pizarnik, a poet I was not familiar with before this, that I’ll always associate her with someone else’s befuddling work now. It’s an advertisement for her work, I suppose, but not a convincing one for me.

finished reading The Last Graduate by Naomi Novik (The Scholomance, #2)

Naomi Novik: The Last Graduate (Hardcover, 2021, Del Ray)

Return to the Scholomance - and face an even deadlier graduation - in the stunning …

Yeah so I still wouldn’t say I enjoy these books but they at least end with intriguing enough cliffhangers that I guess I’m completing the trilogy after all. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I decided that Orion Lake needed to die after the second time he saved my …

Also just want to say nothing I’ve ever heard compared to that series about a boy who lives has ever lived up to the praise. Not that I even crave another series like that. But it never pans out to anything more than “yeah, we definitely spent our childhood reading the same books” to me.

I love Pod Meets World with all my heart, but so far (the dudes’) book club selections are not it. And yeah, I’m judging at 5%. Hopefully it’ll prove me wrong, but the last one never got better from this point.

Tom Felton: Beyond the Wand (2022, Grand Central Publishing)

From Borrower to wizard, Tom Felton's adolescence was anything but ordinary. His early rise to …

“Shooting a Quidditch match…was a slow, painstaking, bum-numbing process.”

Reading this book was not! It’s even more HP-centric than the title implies, and that was just fine with me. (I’m glad to find it can still be enjoyable when not a certain someone is not involved!) Loved hearing Tom’s thoughts on Draco and his cast mates (especially his fellow duck Emma Watson), and his wise words regarding mental health. Draco really did turn out good in the end. 💚

Mariah Carey: The Meaning of Mariah Carey (Hardcover, 2020, Andy cohen books)

All over my elegant fresh linguine. Nooooooo!

You know what, Bookwyrm might be better than Goodreads simply based on half stars and not dictating what each one represents.

Anyway, super impressed with the audiobook. There’s moments where Mariah’s as campy as can be, and others where you hear her voice break as she bares her soul. Oh, and she sings! Songs from her albums that this casual radio listener wasn’t familiar with, but it’s fascinating to hear them as she tells the stories that inspired her lyrics. Highly, highly recommend.
