@mouse @PunchoVita @suzyxwvu Ooh! Yeah, let us pick the units: n books / short stories / chapters / pages / poems / paragraphs / sentences / words / linear feet of bookshelf.
[no can of worms here, oh no]
@eldang @mouse @PunchoVita being able to differentiate short stories/essays from books could be cool, though, since it is a bit untrue to count that as a book towards your goal tbh
@eldang @mouse @PunchoVita @suzyxwvu I would like a way to add short stories, and review them individually.
Not just that, it would be good if short stories can be indexed or cross-referenced to other places where they can be found.
For example, I read and review story X in anthology Y. But anybody else looking up X can discover it is also found online at site Z as well as in books A and B.
So far, I haven't found anything that does that.
@mouse @suzyxwvu @PunchoVita @sohkamyung I would love this, but I also think it's a real challenge to do because stories aren't indexed individually with anywhere near the thoroughness that books are.
@mouse @suzyxwvu @PunchoVita @eldang That is mostly true. Fortunately, for SFF, the ISFDB does provide an index for most stories.
Here's the index for Greg Egan's books and stories [ www.isfdb.org/cgi-bin/ea.cgi?79 ], for example. If you select a short fiction entry, a list of publications where the story appears is listed.
I don't know of a similar site for other categories of fiction.
@mouse @PunchoVita @sohkamyung @eldang Probably creating an issue where this information will not die could be helpful for future mouse. OwO
@suzyxwvu @eldang @sohkamyung it would! this is the exact kind of thing that I'd love to improve but is realistically a ways down the roadmap. Having it on github would be great
