Inio Asano: Goodnight Punpun, Vol. 1 (2016) 4 stars

A Japanese manga written and illustrated by Inio Asano about Onodera Punpun, a normal child …

How does anyone give this anything but 6 stars?!

5 stars

THIS IS THE GREATEST STORY I WILL EVER READ. Oyasumi Punpun has genuinely changed my life. It's unbelievable that any human being could create something like this. It's so difficult to even describe what this manga does to a person. I cried and cried and cried. And after crying more, I walked away from the end of this story as a more mature and hopeful person.

Only read Oyasumi Punpun if you can handle horrifyingly mature concepts. If the story worsens your mental health, then take a break and come back later.

The twist really got me

5 stars

I am definitely the type of person that would adore this book. The relationships between the characters are relatable for my own relationships in life. I found the world building to be so creative by pulling from interesting concepts. The twist genuinely made me put the book down because I really, really was not expecting it. And, the ending was satisfying.

In my top 5 books I've ever read

5 stars

I'm sure if this book wasn't a mandatory read in schools a lot less people would hate it. It's fantastic, I don't get sick of reading it. The most interesting part of this great book is that it's not actually realistic! It acts more as a classic theory from the past, that humans are innately savage. But, when 6 boys actually got trapped on an island in real life, they worked together and took care of one another. That fact makes the book an even better of a read for me. It's captivating how a story from an author often paints a world not true to our own.

One of my favorite books!

5 stars

I have a heavy nostalgia bias. I read this book probably 10 times as a kid. I also watched both the animated movie and the CGI film 20 times. I read it again as an adult a while ago and will definitely read it again. If you have a kid, you should absolutely get them a copy. :)

I am definitely into men.

5 stars

I have read this book twice AND a few of Lily Mayne's short stories for the characters. I actually have bookmarked some of my favorite parts of the story to reread them. The characters rock and the plot is interesting. I enjoyed it the whole way through. If you like post-apocalyptic stories and/or are a monster "lover" then read it.
