I don't think I would ever forgive Amy if she was my sister.
I read Little Women first when I was very young, but old enough to recognize myself in Jo, the most independent and tomboyish of the four March sisters. Little Women is a coming-of-age story, for all four sisters, as well as their neighbor a boy named Laurie. It is filled with growth, love, joy, and sorrow, as the antics of the sisters and their friend fill the pages.
It is difficult to write any kind of unbiased review of this book, as it's been with me as long as I can remember really and it may seem outdated and old-fashioned but I think anyone could benefit from having read it, for the hope it bears within it.

While I seem to cry more often with each time I read it over, I cannot help but love Little Women. I am reminded that dismal days don't last forever and small actions can mean a lot. As often happens at the end of a book, I'm bewildered to find myself leaping over the last page to find myself on the back cover and back in reality, but I feel the comfort of a satisfactory solution (none of those cop-out cliffhangers that procrastinate any conclusion for another book to be found here!)
I don't think my review can do this book any justice, but it means a lot to me, especially as I have a sister who shares Beth's name and often her disposition. No matter who you are, though, you can relate to some character in the story. It is altogether enjoyable and warm to read the happy chronicle of the March family and the four little girls as they grow into little women.
Read this in junior high and I don't remember being terribly impressed. Perhaps I should try it again.
