The Moomins and the Great Flood is the first book about the Moomins, originally published in 1945. It´s the story about Moominmamma and Moomintroll´s search for the missing Moominpappa and how they found their way to the Moominvalley.
It reads like a fascinating fever dream, very entertaining.
4.25 Charming, cute and a little thoughtful - a female-driven picaresque that manages to enchant, but also shows that the author still had a little way to polishing her craft. Also quite short compared to the later titles unless I am mistaken.
Been trying to get my hands on this one for ages. it is exactly as good as I'd hoped, which is very good.
