Guessing how the stories connect to their predecessors is part of the appreciation, and the new elements are no less incisive. Impressive.
Did not expect this series to go in this direction: Post-apocalypse pandemic fiction. We are currently living through COVID-19, and it was a bit disconcerting when several times it was mentioned infected people might not show any symptoms for 2 weeks!
How this ties into the other novels in the series remains entirely to be seen. I think this was worth reading (it was mercifully short), but definitely not to my tastes, and if this had been the first in the series, I probably wouldn’t have continued.
