The last books I had picked up had turned out to be depressing or about war or both, so when audible told me I could listen to more books, and I saw this, I jumped at a light-ish detective story. A nice reprieve from all the depressing and war I had been reading.
I was a bit surprised by how short it was, but I guess it's the perfect length. It's not the story's fault I'm now left to look for a next thing to listen to. The story just did what I wanted it to - was super entertaining and didn't overstay it's welcome.
What an interesting concept! Well written and well conceived, I enjoyed this mini novel.
I did enjoy the audiobook but it was a bit convoluted and tough to buy into all the connections. Enjoyable quick listen.
The concept brings more questions than can be answered in a novella, but it's still a fun read/listen.
Wild premise, engagingly treated. Very short.
If someone kills you, you don't die; you just vanish, and reappear naked and alive, in your bed at home. Almost always! So, if someone is gravely injured in an accident and about to die, what do you do? Have someone come in and kill them, of course!
Given this rather unique background, we have what is basically a noir detective story, that plays nicely with the bizarre setting, but also hews to the genre.
Very very short. Novelette? Longish short story? I'd enjoy an actual novel set in this universe.
I liked the twist at the end.
I rarely listen to audio books, but the bloke who read this aloud is outstanding, and made a long car trip a great deal of fun.
The book itself is pretty darn nifty, too, and made this ethics geek's day.
